Tony Cragg's sculpture Stack at the Purple Path, Chemnitz, Germany

On 3 September 2022, the sculpture Stack by artist Tony Cragg will be inaugurated on the PURPLE PATH in Aue-Bad Schlema/ Chemnitz, Germany. The PURPLE PATH is one of the flagship projects of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 and particularly involves the cultural region.

Together with Alexander Ochs, the curator of the PURPLE PATH, the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH has been able to win the sculptor Tony Cragg for the large district town of Aue-Bad-Schlema. Tony Cragg will present his almost four-metre-high bronze sculpture Stack, whose shape could be reminiscent of the depiction of thrown-up earth on the central panel of the Annaberg mountain altar. The sculpture is located in the Bad Schlema spa park, which was built over a landscape completely devastated and destroyed by the Soviet Union's uranium mining operations of the Wismut SDAG.
