Tony Cragg at Tegernsee Art Masters, Germany
—
The 2nd Tegernsee Art Masters is dedicated to Tony Cragg, one of the leading sculptors of our time. Staged across several locations along the shores of Lake Tegernsee, the exhibition Seemeile No. 1 – Elements presents five monumental sculptures in direct dialogue with the surrounding landscape.
The selection brings together works from major series spanning nearly three decades, including Early Forms, Stacks, Senders, Tommy, and Points of View. Installed in Rottach-Egern, Bad Wiessee, Gut Kaltenbrunn, and Schloss Tegernsee, the sculptures explore the central themes of Cragg's practice: evolution, transformation, growth, and the relationship between natural and constructed forms.
Created in bronze, stainless steel, and fibreglass, the works draw on organic structures, geological formations, and contemporary materials. Their placement within the open landscape of Lake Tegernsee creates an ever-changing dialogue between sculpture, light, water, and the surrounding environment, inviting visitors to experience the works from constantly shifting perspectives.
