Tatsuo Miyajima: Changing Landscape / Changing Museum. The window, a membrane between inside and outside, becomes a sculpture.
In this work by the Japanese artist, the windows of the museum are fitted with semi-transparent mirrors with numbers symbolising time, so that the view of the landscape is constantly changing. The light that falls through the windows also changes, and so do the visitors. Furthermore, the museum itself is transformed by these ever-changing windows.
The work engages with the landscape, the museum and its visitors, as well as the people who connect it to the inside, the outside and time by constantly changing the landscape, the museum and its visitors.
