Pedro Cabrita at Pavilhões da Mitra, Lisbon

ATELIER is a retrospective exhibition of Pedro Cabrita Reis’s work featuring around one thousand five hundred pieces produced over the course of a 50-year career. All of them are from his own personal collection and most have never been shown before, while others are being shown for the first time in Portugal. The exhibition will include paintings, drawings, engravings, sculptures and photographs.

The exhibition will be open until the end of July and is supported by Lisbon Municipal Council, Lisbon Tourism Board, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (which has loaned the exhibition space) and several private companies. It will be shown across eight pavilions at Mitra, in Marvila, covering a total area of 3,000 M2. ATELIER will be publicised nationally and internationally and will be another important milestone in boosting Lisbon’s image as an indispensable cultural destination. The event will be held in conjunction with ARCO Lisboa Contemporary Art Fair, with whose programme it will be associated.

An exhibition newspaper, designed by Pedro Falcão, will be produced with the support of the EDP Foundation and includes essays by Carlos Vidal, Dalila Pinto de Almeida, João Pinharanda, Rui Cardoso Martins, Penelope Curtis and Pedro Cabrita Reis himself.

ATELIER will be open to the public from 19 May to 28 July on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2.00 to 6.00 pm. Admission is free.
