The Written Art Collection at the Pinakothek der Moderne presents, for the first time, a comprehensive exhibition of text-based and scriptural art. Alongside Lawrence Wiener, the show features works by internationally renowned artists including Etel Adnan, Nasrollah Afjei, Maliheh Afnan, Mounira Al Solh, Alighiero Boetti, Sophie Calle, Claudia Comte, Golnaz Fathi, Katharina Grosse, Andreas Gursky, Susan Hefuna, Jenny Holzer, Rebecca Horn, Alfredo Jaar, Glenn Ligon, Brice Marden, Ed Ruscha, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Mark Tobey, and Fritz Winter. The exhibition traces the development of written art from the mid-20th century to the present and explores the multifaceted relationships between text and image through a global, cross-cultural perspective.
