Daniel Buren's monumental site-specific installation at the Liège-Guillemins railway station in Belgium was on view from 2022 to 2023.
The artist's work bathes the Santiago Calatrava-designed station in vibrant colours. Titled Comme tombées du ciel, les couleurs in situ et en mouvement, the work plays with Calatrava's architecture and immerses the station with a vibrant interplay of coloured light. Squares of pink, green, blue, white and orange form a chequerboard pattern on the roof of the station, whereas the side walls feature red and yellow stripes reminiscent of Buren's characteristic works with striped cotton panels.
