Véronique Arnold Seguire il filo del discorso
GALLERIA BUCHMANN LUGANO presents the artwork Et ces moutons, si doux, dévorent les humains, 2014 realized by Veronique Arnold (*1973 Strasburg) within the exhibition Seguire il filo del discorso. The work consists of a white linen canvas with handmade embroideries of few abstracts taken from the book Utopia (1516) by Thomas More – an important English humanist and politicians of the XVI century. The artist Veronique Arnold spent quite a few months on the text by More: at the beginning she copied it out and then she embroidered every word. From the artwork shines through a deep link between the artistic and handcraft antique traditions and the intimate experience of the artist, expressed in the act of the embroidering.

Lo spazio espositivo cittadino Buchmann Lugano presenta l’opera, Et ces moutons, si doux, dévorent les humains, 2014 realizzata dall’artista Véronique Arnold (*1973, Strasburgo) nell’ambito della mostra Seguire il filo del discorso. Il lavoro consiste in una tela di lino bianca con degli estratti del testo di Thomas More, importante umanista e uomo politico inglese del XVI secolo, intitolato L’Utopia (1516) ricamati a mano. L’artista Véronique Arnold ha speso diversi mesi sul testo di More, prima trascrivendolo e in seguito ricamandolo parola per parola. Dall’opera traspare un intenso legame tra la tradizione antica sia artistica che artigianale e l’intima esperienza dell’artista espressa nell’atto del ricamo.
